Guilin - Central - Two women on "Jiefang Lu West" - On this
International Womens Day - March 8th 2006 - It should be
remembered that many Women across China are still treated
as "second class" citizens - Over fifty years after the founder
of the Chinese Communist Party "Mao Zedong" said that women
"hold-up half the sky" that sky that they are "helping to hold" is still
controlled by the men in the society. For example Women are unable to
nominate to have a divorce, their activites are monitered by
the so-called socialist government. The role within the patriarchal society
is simular to women in 'western countries' of decades earlier.
